August Program and Show & Tell

Program

Lee had the program this month...Thank you, Lee! She showed us her version of a quilt from a magazine. She is showing how to cut the blocks here.

This is Lee's quilt. It looks awesome, Lee!
So much prettier than the quilt in the magazine.

Show & Tell

This is Karen's 10 Minute Block Quilt. She hand stitched thos center squares down. It looks so different this way. Great Job, Karen!

Brenda shows off her beautiful table runner. This was from a class with the Roll Guild, using a Judy Neimeyer pattern. It is paper pieced. Looks great, Brenda!

Joyce shows us her cat bag. So cute!

These are Terrie's Zippy Strippy bags she made last Tuesday. Yes, she made all of them in one day. And, they are all made from sraps. She plans to make more because these didn't use up enough of her scraps!

Thanks to all who shared at the August meeting! Hope to see more in September!

Have a Happy Quilting Day!

First Blog

After the meeting last night of the Current River Scrappers Quilt Guild, I decided to create a Blog for the CRS Quilt Guild.
We are a group of quilters who get together once a month for a meeting. We meet on the second Monday of each month at the Bank of Salem Courtesy Room at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
We have a program each month, usually presented by one of our members. We have had guest speakers in to do a program and have greatly enjoyed what they had to share.
We have Show & Tell each month. We love to see what everyone has been doing. Although last night, we didn't have much to show. I guess everyone is busy with Summer activities.
We have several charity projects we are involved in. We have a group of ladies who meet on Wednesdays to sew for Quilts of Valor. Others volunteer to quilt and bind the quilts. Still other donate quilts they have completed on their own. We have sent several quilts to Quilts of Valor.
Last year we got involved in the Pillow Case Challenge and made pillow cases for the Backpack program at our local schools. We donated over 100 pillow cases.
We also donate baby and children quilts for organizations like our local pregnancy center.
We received the Gift of Time Honor Roll award from The Salem Area Community Betterment Association for "Outstanding Volunteer Service, Enhancing the Quality of the Community's Life during 2010".
