December Already!

Where has the time gone?  It is December already!  We had our annual Christmas Party at our Guild Meeting last night.  What a good time we had!  We had several UFOs finished, none of them were mine, but that's ok.  I did get a few done this year.  I was not as productive as I was last year.  I only finished 4 of them on time and another one was finished late, but it is still a finish.  Some beautiful finished UFOs were shown last night.  Good job, Ladies!  We had 13 lists for 2015, which is a total of 78 quilts.  We had 38 of them finished!  That means the "Pot" was $40.  Claudia was our big winner of the "Pot".  She deserves it!  She finished ALL of her quilts on time!  Way to go, Claudia!  Audrey also finished all of her quilts on time!  Great job, Audrey!  The rest of us donated to the "Pot".  New UFO lists for 2016 were turned in last night.  We have 14 lists right now.  I only made 2 lists this year.  If you didn't get your list in last night, you can still turn one in.  List 6 quilts you want to finish this year and number them from 1-6.  We roll the dice (the one on my phone) and that is the quilt we work on and must have it finished by the February meeting to get $1.00 back.  In February we will roll again and do that quilt.  The quilt for February is #2.  Some of you did not number your quilts.  They are now numbered according to the order you wrote them down.  Work hard and get those quilts done!  Two months to get it finished.  By the way, all mine are already to the "Top" stage.  That means I just need to quilt it.  Maybe I can get them done this year.  I will post the list above as soon as I can.
We also had the Mystery Quilt reveal last night.  It is actually a Bonnie Hunter pattern that is free on her BlogSpot.  It is called Cathedral Stars.  You can find it under "Free Patterns" at Quiltville.BlogSpot.com.  I still need to put the borders on, but the center is pieced.  It is going on my UFO list for this year.  (Okay, so this quilt is not quite a finished top, but will be soon.)
We had our Mug Rug swap again this year.  It was SO fun last year!  They were all so pretty!  And all of them were so different.  Everyone did a wonderful job making their Mug Rug!  I got the ones Bonnie made (she had two in her bag).  I think everyone enjoyed it.  I'm sure we will do it again next year.  I wish I would have taken pictures of them, so I can remember all of them.
Our Fat Quarter Drawing was won by Audrey.  Our colors for January are blues, I think.
We finished the evening with our Door Prize Drawing.  We had several donations and a few Mug Rugs left over, so several people won a door prize.  Thank you to all who donated Door Prizes and to those who made extra Mug Rugs so everyone could participate in the Exchange.
We had to say Good-Bye to Chris, who has been our Treasurer for several years.  We are so sad to see her go!  She has sold her house and moving closer to her daughter.  We are happy for her, but so sad to see her leave us.  We will miss you so much, Chris!  Please keep in touch!  I hope you enjoy your new home and I hope you find a Quilt Guild there to be involved with.  I'm sure they won't be as much fun as us!  Please come back and visit us as often as you can.
As your President, I am so thankful for all of you!  Our Guild has grown this past year.  I enjoy everyone of you.  I enjoy seeing what you are working on and what you have finished.  You do wonderful work and inspire me and push me all the time to do better.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  I am looking forward to what the new year will bring (including my retirement from teaching!)!  Enjoy your families this Christmas and take a little time to do something for yourself...like sew...work on that UFO that is due in February...color...drink some hot chocolate...watch a Christmas movie...whatever makes you happy...Enjoy!
Terrie

P.S. Linda Shelton volunteered to be our new Treasurer!  Thank you, Linda!
Also, we have every month taken for programs next year!  Thank you to all who signed up!  I will post those when I get a copy from Lynn.

June Meeting

The June Meeting is just one week away.  I hope you have finished your UFOs.  I have not!  Ugh!  Track season got in the way!  Track is finally finished.  Just finished it this past weekend at the State Track Meet in Jefferson City.  Anyway, I will probably not get mine done, so my money will go in the "Pot" for someone at the end of the year.  Keep working on your UFOs.  I know some of you already have all of yours completed.  Way to go, Ladies!
The Mystery Quilt continues with Clue #2 given this month.  Hope you finished your Half Square Triangles.  If you are doing Option #1, they are red and black.  If you are doing Option #2, they are white and whatever color you want.  I guess if you want to use cream or beige, you could.  It is your quilt, so you can use whatever colors you want to.  It didn't take me very long to piece them together.  The next unit will take a little more time, but I have some great tips for cutting, which will save time.
See you next Monday...I hope I don't forget, again!
Have a wonderful week!   Hope the sun shines soon.

UFO Lists

I am posting the 2015 UFO list in the pages at the top of this page.  I should have done this last December, but I guess I forgot.  Too many things going on.  We have already completed two from the lists and another one is due in June.  Number 5 is due in June.  Number 2 was due in February and #1 was due in April.  If you didn't get yours finished, I hope you will still try to finish them by the end of the year.
Happy Quilting!

Meeting Tonight

I am cancelling the meeting tonight because to the cold!  The temperature is supposed to be around 19 degrees by 8:00 tonight.  Not fun to be out in.  Enjoy your time at home.  Stay warm.  Don't forget to work on that UFO that is due next month!
Happy Quilting!

A New Year...2015

Happy New Year!  It is a new year and in many ways, a new beginning.  For the Quilt Guild, the beginning of a new year brings new programs...time to sign up!  I think we actually have someone or something for each month this year.  Thank you, to all who signed up and are so willing to share techniques, patterns, quilts, etc.  If it were not for you, we would not have a Quilt Guild.  I love seeing what you are doing, your ideas, your quilts, everything.
Our 3rd UFO Challenge is on!  This is the 3rd year to do the UFO Challenge.  If you did not sign up, you still can.  It's not too late.  You will need to list 6 quilts and number them 1-6.  You pay $6 to be in the Challenge.  We have already rolled the dice and number 2 came up.  That means you have until the February meeting to complete the quilt you listed for #2.  If you complete your quilt, you will receive a certificate and $1 back.  Your name also goes into a drawing at the end of the year.  If you finish all your quilts on time, you will have all your money back and a bigger chance to win the drawing.  If you don't finish your quilt on time, your $1 goes into the "Pot" for the drawing at the end of the year.  You also don't get your name in for the drawing.  Mary won the money last year!  I have a feeling that I will be contributing to the "Pot" a lot this year.  It is great to see everyone's finished quilts and it is such a feeling of accomplishment to get them done on time.  If you are in the Challenge, you have one month left to finish your quilt  So, get busy!  I need to get busy!  I made 3 lists this year.  One list are quilts that I have not finished piecing yet.  My goal is more to get the top complete by the deadline, not so much finishing the quilt.  If I do get it done, that will be a bonus!  So, I have pretty much decided that the money from that list is donation to who ever wins the drawing at the end of the year.  Another list is large quilts.  Most of them are tops already, except the one that is #2 on my list.  So, I have two quilts that I have not finished piecing yet for next month!  My third list are small quilts.  I did two lists last year, one of large quilts and one of small quilts.  I did finish all my small quilts last year.
Our January meeting is scheduled for tonight.  We have had some bad weather today, enough to cancel school.  I am going to get out of the house and see how the roads are.  If they are bad, we will not meet.  If  you feel like you don't want to get out in this cold weather, stay home.  I am going to do the program tonight, because I don't think anyone signed up for January.  Hopefully, I will be able to post some pictures later of what I am presenting.
Hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying your Monday!
Happy quilting!
