Where has the time gone? It is December already! We had our annual Christmas Party at our Guild Meeting last night. What a good time we had! We had several UFOs finished, none of them were mine, but that's ok. I did get a few done this year. I was not as productive as I was last year. I only finished 4 of them on time and another one was finished late, but it is still a finish. Some beautiful finished UFOs were shown last night. Good job, Ladies! We had 13 lists for 2015, which is a total of 78 quilts. We had 38 of them finished! That means the "Pot" was $40. Claudia was our big winner of the "Pot". She deserves it! She finished ALL of her quilts on time! Way to go, Claudia! Audrey also finished all of her quilts on time! Great job, Audrey! The rest of us donated to the "Pot". New UFO lists for 2016 were turned in last night. We have 14 lists right now. I only made 2 lists this year. If you didn't get your list in last night, you can still turn one in. List 6 quilts you want to finish this year and number them from 1-6. We roll the dice (the one on my phone) and that is the quilt we work on and must have it finished by the February meeting to get $1.00 back. In February we will roll again and do that quilt. The quilt for February is #2. Some of you did not number your quilts. They are now numbered according to the order you wrote them down. Work hard and get those quilts done! Two months to get it finished. By the way, all mine are already to the "Top" stage. That means I just need to quilt it. Maybe I can get them done this year. I will post the list above as soon as I can.
We also had the Mystery Quilt reveal last night. It is actually a Bonnie Hunter pattern that is free on her BlogSpot. It is called Cathedral Stars. You can find it under "Free Patterns" at Quiltville.BlogSpot.com. I still need to put the borders on, but the center is pieced. It is going on my UFO list for this year. (Okay, so this quilt is not quite a finished top, but will be soon.)
We had our Mug Rug swap again this year. It was SO fun last year! They were all so pretty! And all of them were so different. Everyone did a wonderful job making their Mug Rug! I got the ones Bonnie made (she had two in her bag). I think everyone enjoyed it. I'm sure we will do it again next year. I wish I would have taken pictures of them, so I can remember all of them.
Our Fat Quarter Drawing was won by Audrey. Our colors for January are blues, I think.
We finished the evening with our Door Prize Drawing. We had several donations and a few Mug Rugs left over, so several people won a door prize. Thank you to all who donated Door Prizes and to those who made extra Mug Rugs so everyone could participate in the Exchange.
We had to say Good-Bye to Chris, who has been our Treasurer for several years. We are so sad to see her go! She has sold her house and moving closer to her daughter. We are happy for her, but so sad to see her leave us. We will miss you so much, Chris! Please keep in touch! I hope you enjoy your new home and I hope you find a Quilt Guild there to be involved with. I'm sure they won't be as much fun as us! Please come back and visit us as often as you can.
As your President, I am so thankful for all of you! Our Guild has grown this past year. I enjoy everyone of you. I enjoy seeing what you are working on and what you have finished. You do wonderful work and inspire me and push me all the time to do better.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I am looking forward to what the new year will bring (including my retirement from teaching!)! Enjoy your families this Christmas and take a little time to do something for yourself...like sew...work on that UFO that is due in February...color...drink some hot chocolate...watch a Christmas movie...whatever makes you happy...Enjoy!
Terrie
P.S. Linda Shelton volunteered to be our new Treasurer! Thank you, Linda!
Also, we have every month taken for programs next year! Thank you to all who signed up! I will post those when I get a copy from Lynn.
