January Meeting

We had a great time Monday night at our January meeting.  So sorry if you missed it.  There were about 17 in attendance.  Alyce McNeal had the program.  She showed us how to make a "Three-Pocket Purse" using 2 large blocks or squares of fabric.  Pretty cute!

Bonnie worked on Quilt of Valor earlier that day.  She cut 5" squares for 4 Patches and there are some Star Block kits ready to be sewn.  Anyone can take one to sew.  Thanks, Bonnie, for all your work.  It was decided that Sit & Sew would be the Monday of the Guild Meeting, starting at 2:00 p.m.

Janis donated 2 Accuquilt Go! dies to the Guild.  Remember that it is only $10 to rent to Accuquilt Go! for a whole month.  Come by the shop and pick it up.

I gave the first Clue for the Mystery Quilt.  I had no idea how much it would take some of you out of your comfort zone!  This will be fun to see what you actually do with this quilt.  By the way, I did not tell you the name of the quilt because I did not want you to find it on the internet and spoil the fun.  At the end I will tell you the name and you will see that it fits the quilt perfectly.  I will try to add a page with the first Clue, in case you missed the meeting or lost your paper.

We had several quilts shown during Show & Tell.  Thank you to everyone who brought something to show.  I love to see what you are working on or what you have finished.

Chris finished piecing her quilt "Across the Wide Missouri".
Here is her "Stars Across America" quilt.  Beautiful job, Chris!
Lee finished quilting a quilt for Quilts of Valor.  Beautiful!
Audrey showed the fat quarters she bought when she went for a weekend with Downton Abby.  These are Downton Abby fabrics.  Lovely fabrics!  Why did you get so many purples, Audrey?
Linda showed us the thread shelves that her husband made her.  One to hold cones and the other to hold spools.  There is a peg in the front for the bobbin.  She found these on Pinterest!  Love it!
I don't remember who won the Fat Quarters and the Door Prize.  I forgot to write it down.  The Fat Quarter for February is Green.  The Door Prize was a Charm Pack.

Don't forget that the first UFO for the year is due at the February meeting.  It is #5 on your list.

We had a couple of visitors at the meeting.  One slept through most of the meeting, but he was comfortable on his Mom's shoulder.  Becky has sent me a message since the meeting and she wants to join the Guild AND join in on the UFO Challenge!  Yeah!  She has already sent me her list and I added it to the UFO lists on the blog.  She said she has not stopped talking about the meeting!  Fun!

Next month, since no one signed up to do a program, we are going to play a game.  I have not played this game before.  They said it is called "Left-Right-Center".  It sounds fun.  You need to bring 20 - 5" squares to play.  Bring fabric that you like, because you may go home with it.  But, it sounds like, if everyone else likes it, too, you probably won't go home with it.  Someone else will!  The squares should be from different fabrics.  Hit your stash, Ladies!

Until next time...
Happy Quilting!
